In most cases, you will need to present a credit card on arrival however, you may be able to pay for the rental on return with a debit card. Take note that only some suppliers will accept a debit card. Even if certain suppliers do take debit card, it does depend on the car rental location and if they will specifically take this form of payment. Additionally, you will need to make sure that your debit card has a Visa or MasterCard logo on it, otherwise, it will not be accepted.
Suppliers will not accept cash. A credit or debit card will need to be presented when you arrive at the car rental counter. Once you return to the car rental company, you may be able to pay for the cost of the rental with cash, however, you will need a card to hold the bond when you arrive at the counter. Cash alone will not allow you to rent a car, unfortunately.
