Thedford Mines is a nice town in the Quebec province of Canada, located more exactly in Les Appalaches Regional County Municipality and being its county seat at the same time. The history of Thedford Mines goes back to 1876, when the town was founded. Since then, Thedford Mines has registered a major growth due to the large asbestos deposits in the area. In 2001, Thedford Mines merged with Black Lake, Thetford-Sud, Pontbriand and Robertsonville, expanding thus its boundaries. According to the 2006 census, Thedford Mines has a total population of 25,704 residents and a total surface of 87.58 square miles.
